Stewart Lee will lead a glittering line-up of stand-up comics at the Union Chapel, a fun-filled evening on 30 June 2008, held in support of Depression Alliance; with the aim of challenging depression with comedy.
Depression Alliance is a small UK charity which helps thousands of people affected by depression. Its national network of self-help groups allows depressed people to share experiences and coping strategies, and Depression Alliance also runs a pen-friend scheme and an internet chat room.
In the public arena, the charity works with healthcare professionals to improve services for people with depression, lobbies the government, promotes research and raises public awareness through campaigns and events including national Depression Awareness Week. Publications include the glossy newsletter A Single Step.
